IMB Sock Inflammasome
This spiral on your socks is keeping your feet warm, but it's playing an even more important role inside your body. It's an inflammasome, a bundle of proteins that forms the fight injury and infection but can also cause the disease. By studying this microscopic molecule, the Institute for Molecular Bioscience is hoping to have a big impact by creating treatments for Parkinson's, dementia, arthritis, and other chronic diseases.
